ReVision Energy is looking for a Solar Land Developer Intern to assist our NH based community solar team. This position is a 20 hours a week, and the pay rate is $15 per hour. It will be based remotely in the greater Brentwood area or out of our Brentwood Office in NH. There may be optional site visits if the applicant is interested. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with computer mapping and familiar Google Earth Pro, Granitview and/or ArcGIS Online. There will be a weekly check in with a supervisor.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Under the direct supervision of New Hampshire’s Solar Land Developer, the Intern will help Revision identify land where the power infrastructure, zoning and wetland regulations indicate good opportunities for seeking land for 3-30 acre community solar arrays and create a system that Revision staff and future interns can use to evaluate solar opportunities.  This position will involve using a variety of computer mapping programs, reviewing wetlands and zoning ordinances and recommending places where the infrastructure and regulations indicate good opportunities for community solar arrays.  The position requires familiarity with computer mapping systems and an interest in developing systems for future use. 

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Using substation map created by previous intern, develop a protocol to identify 3 phase electrical lines within 4 miles of NH substations.
    • Create an electronic map showing 3 phase lines within the 4-mile radii.
    • Document how the map can be used with Google Earth Pro, Granit or ArcGIS online by Revision co-owners.
  • Research zoning and wetland regulations in the towns covered within the 4-mile radius of each substation.
    • Create a report highlighting the town and its regulations impacting solar systems of 300kw and above.
  • Collect and file logically electronic copies of applicable zoning and wetland ordinances

 

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Interest in the transition away from fossil fuels
  • Enthusiasm, passion, and awareness about the renewable energy industry
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer mapping skills
  • Strong customer relationship building skills
  • Relevant background in sustainability, natural resources, and computer mapping or related areas
  • Ability to work independently and cooperate with supervisor and teammates.
  • Competence in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks effectively, and work efficiently
  • Prior experience in the renewable energy space is an added advantage but not required
  • A minimum of one course in computer mapping and at least 2 years towards a college degree in sustainability, natural resources, community planning or related field
  • Attention to detail, ability to focus on task
  • Ability to work at a fast pace, adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions
  • Holds high expectations of the quality of own work output
