As an Apprenticeship Plumber you’ll be training to become a Journeyman Plumber with Southern Air, Inc. You don’t need any plumbing experience, and we’ll even pay you during training!

Our Registered Apprentice’s receive:

A paycheck: From day one, you’ll earn a paycheck guaranteed to increase over time as you learn new skills. Depending on education and experience, starting pay ranges from $15 – $20 an hour.

Training: As an apprentice, you’ll receive practical on-the-job training. 

An Education: You will receive hands-on instruction curriculum from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) paid for by Southern Air.

A Career: Once you complete your apprenticeship, you’ll be on your way to a successful long-term career with a competitive salary and no educational debt. Nationally recognized state certification as a journey person: When you graduate from our apprenticeship, you’ll be certified and can take your certification anywhere in the U.S.A.

Job Description: The Apprentice Plumber will install, repair and maintain by performing various duties in commercial or public buildings.

Job Duties:

  • Work with others as a team to learn and perform the task laid out by the plumbing superintendent and or lead plumber.
  • Observe and assist in plumbing installations, which include water, sewer, and gas lines, water heaters.
  • Learn by assisting with layout, assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, equipment, and fixtures of heating, cooling, domestic water, air, drainage systems according to company standards, specifications, and plumbing or mechanical code.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Valid local driver’s license with acceptable driving & criminal background record
  • Abstinence from drugs with clean drug screening results
  • Reliable and punctual attendance
  • Commitment to company values
  • Must have required hand tools and steel toe shoes (all power-tools are provided by S/A)
  • Overtime and travel may be necessary

Individuals may need to ride or drive in a vehicle for 2 or more hours at a time depending on position.

Individuals working at an outside job site may be exposed to varying temperatures and all weather conditions.

Performing this job requires frequent use of hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls.  Must be able to sit, talk, hear, and stand frequently throughout the day.  Must be able to climb, reach above shoulder height, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl frequently.  The position occasionally may require lifting heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.

May work with or around typical construction materials and chemicals that require knowledge of a safety data sheets.
