Erosion Control Lead Responsibilities
- Ability to organize and supervise a 2–3-person crew for a variety of jobs related to erosion control and environmental activities. Complete and maintain required paperwork.
- Lead field operations, monitor crew production goals, instructed use of proper tools, and management of materials.
- Must have operational experience with equipment to communicate equipment limitations and designed purposes. Help crew with tasks as needed.
- Must conduct weekly safety meetings with crew as well as daily huddle up meetings
- Must comply with all company safety rules, procedures and applicable government regulations
- Maintain safe, clean jobsite, vehicles, and orderly work
- Must be familiar with the use of skid steer attachments including brush cutter, stump grinder, auger, forks, etc.
- Knowledge of hydroseeding operations a plus
- Must be accountable for equipment safety, maintenance, and operation as well as some transportation of equipment to and from each project
- Assist in maintaining mobile equipment (greases, fuels, and performs minor mechanic work) and other equipment used by the Environmental crew.
- Ensures proper instillation/maintenance of silt-fencing, water overflow structures, water-transfer devices, seed and fertilizer, erosion prevention structures/materials.
Erosion Control Lead Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years’ of age.
- 2 – 4 years’ experience performing erosion control and supervising crew
- 2 – 4 years’ equipment operation experience (farm equipment, skid steer, dozer, mini excavator, etc.)
- Possess a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (CDL a plus)
- Must have dependable transportation to and from work.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical exam and drug
- Must be punctual and dependable, have flexible work schedule and work in a team environment. Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in the mining, earth moving, or road construction industry; environmental compliance for mining industry preferred.
Work Environment/ Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and outside weather conditions.
- The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat, cold, and vibration. The employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals.
- The employee may also encounter wild animals, dangerous insects, poisonous plants and other hazards associated with a rugged natural outdoor working environment.
