Job Description
GEI is seeking respected professionals who aspire to have a positive impact on GEI’s growing design team and are interested in working collaboratively with a talented team of design, management, and technical leaders. GEI will provide a unique opportunity to collaborate across multiple practices to successfully deliver geotechnical, environmental, and hydrogeological design/engineering solutions for our clients in the Ontario Market.
The Canadian operation of GEI is expanding in the Ontario market and GEI is looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our existing technical team working on projects across Ontario and expand our engineering services. To provide flexibility, this opportunity can be physically based out of Kitchener, Markham, Barrie or remotely.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide geotechnical engineering expertise and project management on a wide variety of projects including buildings, highways, bridges, retaining walls slope stability, and municipal infrastructure.
- Manage and lead geotechnical engineering tasks, including geotechnical investigations, site characterization and evaluations, analyses, and designs.
- Develop and manage task budgets and schedules.
- Direct preparation and/or supervision of intermediate to senior staff on preparation of technical reports, basis of design reports, design drawings, construction specifications, and other written documentation.
- Prepare cost estimates, schedules and construction documents, and periodically monitor construction activities in the field.
- Supervise, direct, train, and mentor junior staff and provide leadership in geotechnical disciplines.
- Prepare proposals and provide key contributions to regional marketing and business development activities, including development of client relationships.
- Promote health and safety in all aspects of work.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geotechnical/Civil Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience in Southern Ontario.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
- Experience with leading geotechnical engineering teams.
- Experience in managing and working on a variety of sizes and types of multi-disciplinary projects for various client types.
- Understanding of industry standard practices and processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent computer skills with technical analysis software, MS Office, MS Project, and other computer applications.
- Valid driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle.
