The Position

Childhaven has adopted early childhood workforce development as a core strategy in their broader vision of improving young children’s health and well-being. Childhaven is establishing an infant & early childhood mental health Workforce Development HUB (Hub) and intends to provide training and technical assistance to the early childhood mental health workforce in Washington state, partnering with other providers and workforce development stakeholders to improve the mental health of the youngest children in our community. Specifically, the Director will have the following opportunities for impact:

The HUB will deliver dynamic, trauma-informed, online and in person training and consultation and tools ranging from specialized webinars to learning series with a blend of live and on-demand courses, as well as downloadable white papers, articles, and tools. It will center evidence-based strategies to enable early childhood mental health providers across disciplines the opportunity to learn new skills and techniques to address the significant mental health challenges they encounter in the young children and families they serve. The Director will provide strategic input and be a key player in the initial launch of the HUB and developing key program and partnerships within the Hub.

  • Provide leadership in the strategic and business development in the core Hub launch strategies:
    • Reflective supervision and consultation for Childhaven team members
    • Early Care and Education Learning Collaborative Pilot
    • Inaugural WA Infant and Early Childhood Providers Conference
    • Scholarships for completing Culturally Sensitive, Relationship-focused Practice Promoting Infant Mental Health® (IMHE®) endorsement process
  • Represent the Hub with external stakeholders and funders.
  • Participate in coalitions and committees related to the early childhood workforce in Washington state.
  • Work with the CEO and Chief Program Officer to ensure continuous improvement in data driven performance.
  • Ensure contract oversight and compliance.

What You Bring

Candidates will be evaluated on the full range of their lived and learned experience, professional background, volunteer experience, and direct and transferable skills. Childhaven is seeking candidates with a compelling combination of demonstrated experience and skills in some, or all, of the following areas:

  • Specialized clinical training in infant/early childhood mental health principles and strategies, with experience applying this expertise in multi-disciplinary early childhood settings.
  • Specialized certification as an Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist and/or endorsement as an Infant Mental Health Specialist or Infant Mental Health Mentor through a state Association of Infant Mental Health’s Endorsement for Culturally Sensitive, Relationship-focused Practice Promoting Infant Mental Health (IMH-E®) system (or comparable) strongly preferred.
  • Training in trauma-informed and anti-racism practices, with experience in related organizational development.
  • Training and experience providing and receiving Reflective Supervision and Consultation.
  • Experience serving as a Workforce Development Director, Manager, or similar role(s), or as a senior staff member of an organization, division, or department of comparable size.
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in child development, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
  • High emotional and social intelligence coupled with the ability to build and cultivate internal and external relationships to increase organizational capacity, capabilities, reach, and positive impact.
  • A deep commitment to antiracism, racial, social, and gender justice in the broader community and a track record of implementing policies and practices to achieve greater equity.
  • Constructive dissatisfaction with the status quo and an appetite for big, bold ideas and innovation.
  • An outlook centered on valuing differences and embracing opportunities to learn about and respect different generational, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Total Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is $94,000 - $125,000. Includes SIGN-ON BONUS of $9000.
