Position Summary

Performs shift operations of daily concrete block production with focus on block machine operations by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. 

Set up, adjust and operate machines to mix concrete and produce product according to specifications.

Set up, adjust and operate machines to split, cube and package product according to specifications.

Manually cube, split and package product as needed.  Perform inventory as needed.

Inspect product and remove product from production that does not meet quality control standards.

Perform adjustments and preventive maintenance on equipment as necessary.

Rebuild mold boxes and other wearing parts.

Assure safety devices are in proper working order, used and in place.

Perform job according to safety/environmental rules and regulations.

Move block via forklift.

Maintain the block area in a clean and orderly manner.

Perform daily clean-up tasks to work area and equipment as needed.

Other duties may be assigned.

Compensation:  $20 + night shift premium

 

Position Requirements and Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent. 
  • Previous experience in a block plant is helpful.  

  • Experience or training with mechanical, hydraulic and/or electrical aptitude is helpful. 

  • Previous experience operating construction machinery or equipment--forklift, pallet loaders, lift truck and a front end loader is also helpful.

  • Forklift certification preferred.  If not, must be capable to completing requirements of the program and passing the test.
  • Must have a good sense of detail and work to maintain a clean and safe block environment. 

  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends according to business needs. 

  • Must be able to use appropriate tools to repair equipment.

Working Conditions

May be required to stand for prolonged periods; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, grasp, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is required to climb stairs and ladders, working at an elevation. 

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds to shoulder height and infrequent lifting up to 100 pounds.  Must have agility to maintain balance on equipment or block piles.  Must lift, place and set block. 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Regularly working in a heavy industrial production environment exposed to outside weather conditions which may be extreme hot or cold.

Work in a minimal amount of non-hazardous dust daily. 

Must wear any protective clothing and devices as required by the company safety policies relating to the assignment being performed. 

Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, precarious places and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
