ABOUT THE ROLE
Childhaven’s Early Learning Program includes a classroom-based program that supports children and families in South King County. Childhaven currently operates Early ECEAP, ECEAP and Head Start classrooms located in Auburn, Federal Way and Burien. The Early Learning Program Director will drive the expansion of our classroom-based early learning program to additional communities such as Skyway, as well as the transition from subcontracting into directly contracting with Washington State. This Director will support and mentor an Assistant Program Manager, family support staff, and teaching staff. The Early Learning Program Director provides leadership, oversight and vision for this vital service area and reports to Childhaven’s Chief Program Officer. The expansion and refinement of this program is key to Childhaven’s Strategic Impact Plan and the individual in this role will have the opportunity to partner with incredible community leaders to better serve children and families.

Program Leadership
- Supervise Early Learning teaching and family support staff including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, ongoing performance management and facilitating regular team meetings
- Ensure staff maintain accurate, up-to-date participant records, service documentation, and data collection
- Develop and maintain internal reporting plan with the support of the CPO to support model compliance, leadership reporting, and staff supervision
- Maintain up to date external reporting requirements with Washington State Child Care licensing, DCYF Early ECEAP team, and PSESD contracting requirements.
- Work with Chief Program Officer to ensure continuous improvement in data driven performance
- Ensure contract oversight and compliance
- Ensure safety and security of all data and assets

- Represent Childhaven’s Early Learning Program with external stakeholders
- Lead partnership development with early care and education partners
- Implement community engagement strategies for current and future early learning classrooms
- Conduct outreach to potential referral sources in the interest of building community partnerships and maintaining full program enrollment

- Adapt program implementation using program evaluation data, including feedback from participants and partners

- Enhance Childhaven’s anti-racism practices
- Develop program budgets, strategies, workplans, presentations, etc.
- Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based and evidence-informed practices and research
- Build relationships with federal, state, county, city and school district staff and elected officials and advocate for high quality early learning programming
- Participate in ongoing job-related professional development, in-service trainings and continuing education
- Participate in regular administrative and reflective supervision with designated supervisor
- Participate in scheduled team and related meetings
- Contribute to federal, state, and local reporting requirements and reporting of child abuse.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field with the equivalent of 30 college quarter credits in early childhood education. These 30 credits may be included in the degree or in addition to the degree.
- A minimum of 3 years working with children and families in an ECEAP or Head Start classroom
- A minimum of 2 years supervising teaching staff or other early learning staff.
- Experience and demonstrated ability to successfully work within a diverse cultural setting and provide culturally dynamic, equitable and supportive services.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience convening and leading teams as well as being a contributing team member
- The ability to adapt to change and use flexible thinking.
- A sense of humor.
- Computer literacy; knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Teams; knowledge of Zoom and other virtual meeting platforms.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and safe driving record, have state required minimum automobile insurance, and be able to use own vehicle for the job.
- A cleared portable background check through Washington Department of Children, Youth, and Families and Childhaven.
Highly Desired
- Understanding of and familiarity with Washington state early learning programs, including Early ECEAP, ECEAP and Working Connections Childcare.
- Training in Promoting First Relationships, Circle of Security, or other evidence-based early childhood models.
- IECMH Endorsement
- Experience providing reflective supervision.
- Training in trauma-informed and anti-racism practices.
- Experience in early childhood workforce development strategies such as mental health consultation, didactic training for multi-disciplinary early childhood professionals, reflective supervision/consultation, and other coaching/technical assistance models.
