Position: Full-time in Ames, Iowa, with overtime available

PMI Iowa is seeking a Utility Laborer for our Fabrication Shop in Ames, Iowa.  The individual will perform various tasks related to overall production and support duties of the fabrication shop.

With more than 45 years of experience, PMI Iowa is a leader in the agri-business and bulk-material handing industries.  Our goal is always quality work, safely completed on time and within the budgeted price.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Know and apply all relevant OSHA, PMI and customer safety policies, procedures and practices.
  • Set up and operate a variety of powered, hand-held drills, grinders and saws, as well as appropriate non-powered hand tools required to perform tasks.
  • Drive and operate PMI trucks, forklifts and boom lifts after receiving training and when authorized.
  • Actively discuss job related information with co-workers and supervisors for the purposes of understanding and problem solving.
  • Provide delivery services of equipment/products to project sites.
  • Obtain desired materials from vendors as needed.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.

Candidates will be considered who have a high school diploma or equivalent.  Consistent with company values, the candidate must have the desire to learn new processes as well as continue training in a given trade to develop skills.

Competencies and Experience

  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to pass DOT physical and maintain medical card.
  • The ability to lift up to 70 lbs. as well as handle, move, carry, push, pull, lift and lower tools, materials, equipment and structures continually throughout the work day.
  • Knowledge and experience of hand and power tools.
