Job Description
GEI is seeking support staff who aspire to become a positive impact on GEI’s growing design team and are interested in working collaboratively with a talented team of design, management, and technical leaders. GEI will provide a unique opportunity to have exposure to be an integral part of the team to successfully deliver geotechnical, environmental, and hydrogeological design/engineering solutions for our clients in the Ontario Market.
The Canadian operation of GEI is expanding in the Ontario market and GEI is looking for support staff to join our existing technical team to provide data entry/drafting/administrative skills on projects across Ontario. This position is based in GEI’s office in Barrie, Ontario, and includes full-time work (40 hours per week) for 8 months (May to December 2022).
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Data entry for borehole logs.
- Drafting of simple borehole location plans and other figures (using Microsoft Office and potentially CAD/GIS).
- Typing of reports and letters.
- Aid with coordinating tasks for geotechnical, environmental and hydrogeological projects under the supervision of senior engineering staff.
- Assist with report preparation/assembling reports.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have strong computer literacy and computer skills.
- Post-Secondary Education.
- 0 to 2 years of Office Administration experience required.
- Must have a positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently or with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Experience with data entry systems other than MS Office.
- Experience with CAD/GIS preferred.
- Position will require the candidate to adhere to work assignments/schedules, be self-motivated, organized and have a keen sense of detail.
- Candidate must be willing to work in addition to a standard 40-hour work week when needed.
