ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Is this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals? Some of the key responsibilities for the position include:

  • Researching pending CWA-related regulatory and legislative changes and evaluating impacts to clients;
  • Reviewing state and federal regulations and permits pertaining to surface water;
  • Managing, evaluating, and summarizing monitoring or other water quality data;
  • Preparing technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, and proposals;
  • Preparing and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties; and
  • Supporting staff with environmental compliance programs.

Here are some other things you should know about this position:

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, defensive driving certification, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 10%
  • Overnight travel: Up to 10%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental or civil engineering, natural resources science (e.g., fisheries, biology, ecology etc.) or other closely related discipline. (required)
  • Advanced degree in environmental or civil engineering or natural resources science (e.g., fisheries, biology, ecology etc.). (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to use writing and presentation skills to clearly convey complex concepts to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Ability to use deductive and inductive reasoning to evaluate written and oral information.
  • Ability to complete the U.S. EPA Water Quality Standards Academy (online course) and demonstrate comprehension of key concepts within three (3) months of hire.
  • Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
