Starting Pay Rate: $22 hr.

Cold Milling Machine Operator Summary

• Primary responsibilities will be for the operation, production, quality, and general maintenance of equipment and safety of the daily operations of a cold milling machine.
• Secondary responsibilities will include various operational field duties in other areas of asphalt paving and heavy construction operations.

Cold Milling Machine Operator Responsibilities

• Cold milling machine operations and daily maintenance.
• Receive and execute directions from milling foreman.
• Work cooperatively with coworkers to produce a quality product.
• Capable of reading and understanding field survey grades and elevations.
• Assist in maintenance and upkeep of equipment assigned to crew.
• Be safety conscience of job, personnel, and traveling public.

Cold Milling Machine Operator Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must be authorized to work anywhere in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Must pass a "fit-for-duty" physical exam and full panel drug screen
• Valid unrestricted driver’s license required.
• Thorough understanding of asphalt paving and roadway construction required.
• Minimum of 2 years of road construction and milling experience or other commercial construction experience.
• Must be team oriented, articulate, flexible and highly productive.
• Willingness and ability to work varied schedules day, night, and/or weekends.
• Ability to work long hours during construction season to ensure up-time of equipment for operations.
• Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees.

Work Conditions/ Physical Requirements

• Lift, carry and hold materials, tools, and supplies up to 50 lbs.  Sit, walk and stand for long periods of time and may perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
• Accurately and regularly complete site checks and monitor traffic behavior and/or flow to ensure that safety is always maintained.
• Be alert and aware of everything going on around the construction area, consistently following safe work practices.
• Be able to tolerate a loud environment.
• Be able to follow and comprehend road traffic diagrams, regulations, and instructions.
