Job Description: This position performs mechanical engineering work, as required, when designing fuel tanks, frames, and various other metal fabrications. Daily responsibilities include communication with customers and potential customers, understanding mechanical, production and quality issues and defining design parameters to support company philosophy and to ensure customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Designs products for manufacturability using a combination of independent research and collaboration
  • Generates product models, concept layouts, and manufacturing drawings using CAD software
  • Prepares accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), develops manufacturing process flow, and enters parts lists and labor requirements into ERP software
  • Supports materials sourcing, purchasing, and selection required by the design process
  • Provides technical and engineering support to production operators
  • Observes all designed projects from conceptual phase through production to final assembly
  • Performs cost review of various jobs – identify materials, labor requirements and related costs
  • Suggests recommendations for cost savings and labor efficiencies to production personnel
  • Communicate directly with customer-based liaisons to define solutions to fill the customer’s requirements – must follow-up on communications routinely

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Technology Management 
  • 0-2 years of experience in a Design Engineer role
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) preferred
  • 3D CAD experience is required, preferably Autodesk Inventor
  • Must possess effective written, verbal and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and the desire for challenges

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
