ENTRY LEVEL INSPECTION TECHNICIAN

Pay Range: $16.00/HR – $19.00/HR

No prior inspection experience or knowledge of fire alarm or fire sprinkler systems necessary. Pay dependent upon your level of construction experience, mechanical skills, and education.

Job Description:

Entry level inspection technicians assist lead inspectors in various inspections of fire protection and life safety systems/equipment. Systems include but are not limited to sprinkler, fire pump, fire alarm, wet/dry systems, foam, clean agent, suppression, kitchen hoods, portable extinguisher, fixed extinguisher, emergency lighting, fire doors, and backflow prevention.

Requirements:

  • No prior inspection experience necessary!
  • Previous construction experience is a value add.
  • Strong values and a dedication to working with integrity at all times.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Well-developed active listening, critical thinking, and deductive reasoning skills.
  • Dependability- must be reliable, responsible and committed to fulfilling assigned duties.
  • Must be willing to work independently or as part of a crew to meet contractual commitments.
  • Have a dependable means of transportation to get to and from job sites and other places of work.
  • Be willing to pursue industry certifications such as NICET Water-Based ITM and NICET Fire Alarm ITM as well as any State required license within one year.

Responsibilities:

  • Test various fire protection and life safety devices using industry approved methods.
  • Gain understanding of how to properly test alarm panels, audible/visual alarms, pull stations, and detectors for fire alarm systems.
  • Gain understanding of how to properly test fire pumps, tamper switches, water-flow devices, hydrants, and valves.
  • Must be able to interact professionally with property managers, customers, owners, owner representatives and local authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Basic computer skills as all inspection reports are performed on hand held devices.
