ReVision Energy is seeking an Interconnection Manager to join our growing Project Development team. The ideal candidate must be located in ME, NH, or MA in order to best serve the communities we live in and work with.

About the Position: 

 

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Interconnection Manager will prepare and manage the utility interconnection requests for ReVision’s Commercial and Institutional (C&I) solar projects across multiple utility service territories in ISO-New England. This is a new position as we expand our pipeline of complex C&I solar projects in an increasingly saturated utility environment for distributed energy resources (DERs). As such, it provides a unique and exciting opportunity to accelerate the transition to clean energy in New England by developing systems and processes for effective interconnection management and becoming a skilled subject matter expert in all aspects of power system planning and the interconnection process. 

 

The ideal candidate will have a degree in electrical engineering or related fields and at least three years of experience managing interconnection projects or working with electric distribution utilities on a technical and/or regulatory level. Demonstrated project management experience and negotiation skills, with strong attention to detail, are strongly preferred. The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills given the multidisciplinary nature of the work in coordinating between our sales, legal & finance, engineering, and operations teams. 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Manage C&I project pipeline of interconnection activities required to bring a project from customer commitment to signed Interconnection Agreement as a core component of achieving “notice to proceed” (NTP) for construction
  • Function as Interconnection owner, including reviewing interconnection applications for C&I projects under contract; reviewing and advancing utility system impact study agreements; analyzing utility study reports and recommending acceptance or negotiation of utility-mandated system upgrades; monitoring implementation and cost of approved system upgrades; and providing timely updates to Project Developers and customers on interconnection status/activities throughout project lifecycle
  • Measure, monitor and report on interconnection risk exposure; create case-specific strategies to minimize or eliminate project interconnection risk 
  • Work with Development Director, Engineering, and Chief Counsel to identify and troubleshoot problematic utility study results/system upgrade requirements through development of lower-cost alternatives, strategic negotiation with utilities, and/or regulatory affairs
  • Work with Development Director, Sales Director, and VP Business Development to identify and regularly update interconnection requirements, hosting capacities, and siting guidelines/criteria for each utility service territory in which ReVision operates; train Sales team in strategic interconnection siting to inform ongoing lead generation/project origination
  • Maintain effective working relationships as ReVision’s primary point of contact with relevant DER professionals at each of the major utilities in our New England territory (MA, ME, NH)
  • Meet deadlines set by the Development team to make projects ‘shovel-ready’ and achieve NTP
  • Travel to project sites across MA, ME, and NH, as needed.
  • Track and interpret regulatory and/or legislative changes to the interconnection landscape, including relevant PUC dockets in MA, ME, and NH; participate in policy propceedings (e.g. interconnection process studies and rulemaking) as appropriate
  • Develop forward-looking interconnection strategies in state legislative and regulatory domains with industry/environmental allies and utility stakeholders
  • Assist ReVision leadership in educating key stakeholders and the public about barriers to DER interconnection and necessity of grid modernization/reform
  • Assist ReVision leadership in tracking and leveraging federal infrastructure funding opportunities for grid modernization 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills; detail oriented 
  • Ability to multi-task, manage projects, prioritize tasks effectively, and work efficiently 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders across disciplines 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • 3+ years work experience in the clean energy space, preferably working on interconnection and/or working with utilities 
  • Experience reading and interpreting technical/regulatory documents such as electrical diagrams, system impact studies, interconnection rules, utility tariffs
  • Familiarity with utility interconnection processes, technical/regulatory standards, and/or negotiation is a plus
  • Accountable, highly independent, ability to be self-directed
  • Holds high expectations of the quality of their own work product
  • Ability to travel to project sites and ReVision Energy offices throughout MA, ME, and NH
  • Advanced competence in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, and Dynamics
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in engineering, energy, business or related field; advanced degrees in engineering or related fields a plus
