JOB DESCRIPTION 

Fire Extinguisher Technician

A Fire Extinguisher Technician is responsible for providing reliable, high quality customer support through on-site inspecting, repairing and/or replacing fire extinguishers as well as conducting preventive maintenance services pertaining to many different manufacturers’ equipment. The ideal candidate must meet the following requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performing inspections, maintenance, and recharging of extinguishers shall be certified.
  • Must be knowledgeable of the code requirements of NFPA 10 2022 Edition and the authority having jurisdiction.
  • Personnel making manual inspections shall keep records of all fire extinguishers inspected, including those found to require corrective action.
  • When an inspection of any fire extinguisher reveals a deficiency in any of the conditions in 7.2.2 or 7.2.2.4, immediate corrective action shall be taken.
  • This person will be responsible for quoting all repairs needed from the inspections.
  • Perform thorough inspections every time and in a timely manner.
  • Being a team player.
  • Customer satisfaction is a must.

 JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess within 30 days of hire: Inspection/Trade License(s) or Certificate(s) of Registration for Fire Extinguishers Training.
  • Strong working knowledge of life safety and NFPA codes
  • Willing to perform testing and maintenance
  • Willing to comply with our safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to work in a high stress and often dirty (dry chemical fire extinguisher agent, or inside manufacturing plants) environments
  • Able to complete documentation as necessary; proficient in the use of an iPad tablet
  • Willing to coordinate between inspection deficiencies and service required to correct found deficiencies
  • Capability to present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, AHJs.
  • Valid state Driver’s License required.
  • Willing to pass post-offer drug screen, reference and background check.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Regular bending, reaching, climbing and walking.
  • Mostly a physical demanding role.
  • May need to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to be on the phone and computer consistently throughout the day.
