Preferred candidates will have an entrepreneurial attitude, be enthusiastic, and interested in pursuing and leading innovative solid waste projects with a diverse mix of clients to expand Geosyntec’s market share.  Our ideal candidate would have project and client management experience and technical skills on projects involving municipal, industrial, and hazardous waste landfills; transfer stations and recycling facilities; landfill gas systems; surface impoundments; oil and gas waste management facilities; geotechnical and hydrogeologic investigations; solid waste planning, and other solid waste management systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop business and manage clients and projects in the solid waste management industry;
  • Participate in and build Geosyntec’s brand recognition in the waste market in Texas and adjoining states;
  • Build and oversee a group of entry and mid-level engineers;
  • Manage projects and prepare proposals;
  • Oversee and provide technical guidance for civil design, landfill and transfer station design, landfill gas system design, and stormwater design;
  • Engineering analyses such as settlement, static and seismic slope stability, liquefaction, hydrologic and landfill gas modeling, and stormwater calculations;
  • Develop geotechnical site characterization plans and oversee related fieldwork;
  • Prepare engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications; and
  • Conduct fieldwork associated with design investigations and construction services.

You will be responsible for business development and marketing with the purpose of establishing a client-oriented practice within Geosyntec. Additional responsibilities include project management, staff management, and mentoring. Here are some other things you should know about a typical Senior Engineer position with Geosyntec: 

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants
  • Fieldwork and overnight travel as needed

 EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  •  Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. (preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in Texas. (required)
  • NCEES Record for PE comity. (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 8 years (10-15+ years preferred) of progressive experience in the consulting industry, focused in Texas and/or adjoining states; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Demonstrated business development and project management experience. (required)
  • Thorough understanding of federal and state regulations for solid waste facility permitting, design, and construction. (required)
  • Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
