Responsibilities & Essential Duties

As a Residential Door Technician your basic function is to work in the field installing residential garage doors and related door and dock components. Technicians will travel to various customer locations for service calls and new installations throughout the day; each day will be different.  Provide positive customer interactions daily throughout our service areas, be organized, efficient, and have practical problem-solving skills.

Essential Functions

  • Assemble mechanical components or machine parts
  • Adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Order replacement springs, sections, or slats
  • Repair or replace worn or broken door parts using hand tools
  • Disassemble equipment for maintenance or repair
  • Remove parts or components from equipment.
  • Install hardware or other interior fixtures
  • Fabricate parts or components
  • Run wiring to connect equipment
  • Lubricate equipment to allow proper functioning
  • Test mechanical equipment to ensure its functioning properly
  • Document operational activities
  • Collect payments for good or services

Expected Schedule/Hours of Work: Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, and vary from starting at 7:00 a.m. to ending at 5p.m.

Certifications (preferred but not mandatory)

  • OSHA 10-HOUR
  • CPR/First Aid

 Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent
  • Physically able to move items weighing 50-75 pounds
  • Able to bend, climb, reach, kneel, etc., for extended periods
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Reliable and self-motivated
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skill

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Driving a company vehicle
  • Experience with overhead door installation and/or mechanics
  • Customer service

  • Be at least 18 years of age, have valid driver license and reliable transportation
  • Must be punctual and reliable
  • Must have valid driver license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks
