W. M. Jordan is seeking a full time Project Accounting Manager in the Newport News, Virginia area. This position will report to the Director of Construction Accounting and will direct our project accountant team in supporting the construction operations teams for their financial and job cost accounting responsibilities. The Project Accounting Manager will be charged with ensuring all construction jobs are financially correct in our job accounting system. This person will also function as a backup to other accounting department team members, particularly the Treasury Coordinator and also the Director of Construction Accounting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review proposals, change orders, and budget adjustments for accuracy
- Upload budgets
- Review margin monthly on each active job
- Work with Estimating to ensure job structure is correct and the proper cost codes are included
- Provide supervisor with weekly updates on new jobs and problems with existing jobs
- Coordinate with Project Teams on job adjustments (to include cost, billings, and budget)
- Review logs maintained by the Project Teams to include contingency
- Monitor Job Cost & Variance reports for all current jobs
- Assign jobs as they are established in COINS to Project Accountants
- Back up COINS Project Accountants when one is out of the office (proposals, change orders, and budget adjustments in COINS)
- Back up the Treasury Coordinator when she is out of the office (cash update, review checks, process wires, upload ACH and positive pay to bank site)
- Assist with financial statement audit support
- Provide analysis and reconciliation at month end to aid in closing

- Bachelors degree in Accounting (candidates with an Associate’s degree in Accounting with significant industry experience may be considered)
