THEATER FLOOR STAFF are dedicated to making our patrons’ experiences as positive as possible when they join us in our theater. This position is primarily present during performance shifts to serve concessions and loan out accessibility devices, but they are also responsible for assisting in the set up and breakdown of various lobby functions from concessions to small events. This is a part-time position that works for the duration of our 2022-2023 Season, which begins in September 2022 and is scheduled to end approximately in early June 2023.

 **10/04 Update: We are particularly interested in candidates who are able and willing to acquire a Class 12 MAST Permit, and would be comfortable performing light bartending duties.

TYPICAL DUTIES INCLUDE

Shift Responsibilities

  • Sell and serve concessions during the performance shift
  • Set up and break down various points-of-sale throughout the lobby, according to sales strategies planned by Audience Services Leadership
  • Prepare beverages and package perishable goods to be sold at point-of-sale
  • Pour alcoholic beverages, as well as mix cocktails
  • Administer accurate cash and card transactions, and reconcile cash drawers
  • Check patrons’ coats, bags, and other personal items at coat check
  • Distribute accessibility devices to patrons upon request
  • Assist in set up and breakdown of in-house events and receptions
  • Serve food and beverages at in-house events
  • Enforce safety and health standards set forth by the COVID Safety Manager and Audience Services Manager to mitigate risk of COVID exposure
  • Ensure the lobby is clean, welcoming, and available to all patrons when the theatre is open to the public
  • Practice consistent high quality customer service to all patrons, prioritizing de-escalation practices as well as anti-racism and equity values
  • Perform other duties pertaining to Patron Experience operations, as assigned by the Concessions Lead or Audience Services Leadership team

 

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

  • Attend and actively participate in Anti-Racism Accountability Change Team (ARACT) meetings, as well as either White Anti-Racism Accountability Group (WARAG) or People of Color (PoC) Affinity meetings, as well as other workshops and trainings
  • Support identifying and undoing shortcomings in Front of House operations that perpetuate systems of oppression in a Predominantly White Institution (PWI)
  • Engage with and strive to embody Seattle Rep’s mission, vision, and values in all aspects of work

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • MAST and Washington State Food Handler’s certification (Training can be provided)
  • Availability to work a flexible and irregular schedule, primarily evening and weekend hours
  • Genuine interest in theater and working with the public
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to four hours, as well as move furniture, stock, and boxes weighing up to fifty pounds
  • Commitment to learning more about and engage in racial equity and social justice practices

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • One to two years customer service experience
  • First Aid and CPR certification (Training can be provided)
  • Strong diplomacy, interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate, both verbally and in written form
