Full-time, Exempt

 Salary Range: $105,000 - $130,000 DOQ

 

Highly responsible technical and supervisory work involving the overall technical operations and supervision of the Fire Division. Responsible for establishing and implementing operational goals and objectives, assisting in the management and coordinating of all administrative aspects of the department, and supervising and directing departmental personnel to achieve effective operational organization and to prevent and minimize the loss of life and property in emergency and fire situations. Has considerable responsibility in working with other municipal and county governments assisting in developing and monitoring interlocal agreements, grants, emergency management plans, etc. Must be able to work in accordance with departmental directives and exercise considerable independence and initiative in the efficient delivery of emergency based service in a cost effective, innovative and pro-active manner. Work is performed under the supervision of the City Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Ten (10) years of progressively more responsible authority in the fire service with at least three (3) years service as a chief, assistant chief or captain in a similar sized or larger department.
  • Must possess Florida State Minimum Standards Certification as a Firefighter as authorized by F.S.S. 633 or be able to secure it within a reasonable time.
  • Completion of the Executive Fire Officers program at the National Fire Academy is desirable.
  • Valid Florida Class D Drivers License with endorsement for emergency equipment required within first 6 months of employment.
  • Complete the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within 6 months of employment.
