Job Summary:
- Directs the overall administration and technical supervision for the construction, maintenance and repair of Lebanon Utility’s electric power lines, substations and street/security lighting.
- Implement and maintain work order system for capital and maintenance projects.
- Ensures all pertinent construction data is recorded and engineering drawings completed.
- Manages purchase requisitions and inventory for department materials and equipment.
- Assists Engineering Services Department with equipment and vehicle specifications and requirements.
- Submits annual budget information, five (5) CIP and staff requirements to the General Manager.
- Manages work performed by outside contractors.
- Coordinates departments’ work activities with other Utility Departments, private contractors, engineers, businesses and residents.
- Conducts engineering studies.
- Works with and oversee the work performed by outside engineering firms.
- Contributes to team decision making in order to accomplish business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work, i.e., effective project management.
- Responds to customers complaints in a timely manner.
- Prepares weekly departmental work schedules and maintains comprehensive inclement weather work/projects schedule.
- Oversees the electric department work order system.
- Prepares all job estimates and billing information for electric department.
- Performs field work as necessary.
- Works closely with Line Crew Supervisor to plan, schedule line crew work.
- Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, calculations, and sketches associated with the resolution of routine technical problems.
- Attends seminars and continuing education classes to enhance managerial, administrative and technical skills.
- Performs all other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Six to eight years electrical transmission/distribution line and substation experience with two to four years in a supervisory capacity
- Some level of Business Management course work recommended
- Thorough knowledge and familiarity with principles and practices of electric power line construction, maintenance, and substations required.
- Strong verbal communication skills necessary in order to deal with a wide range of personalities both inside and outside the organization.
- Ability to make informed immediate decisions in emergency or highly stressful situations.
- A valid Indiana driver’s license required. First aid and CPR certifications required.
