Job Brief:

The Journeyman Electrician will provide on-site installation, servicing, diagnostics and repairs for a customer’s electrical products and equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Completes Quality Assurance (QA) and or Quality Control (QC) redlines for as-built construction drawings.
  • Reads and interprets schematics and drawings related to electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings and electrical code specifications.
  • Repair and adjusts system components (sensors, transmitters, programmable logic controllers, etc.); removes and replaces defective parts.
  • Ability to pull wire through conduits, holes, and splice, join and / or connect wire to form circuits.
  • Ability to test circuits to ensure integrity and safety.
  • Completes daily field work orders and maintains hours worked and equipment used.
  • Responsible for complete transfers for any inventory being utilized at the job site and provide monthly warehouse inventory reports.
  • As part of the mentorship program, Senior Journeyman Technicians will complete on the job training documents for Junior Technicians.
  • Ensures Control Tech’s safety program is followed. Maintaining a high level of safety awareness and adherence and refrains from any task for which authorization and/or training has not been given.
  • Attends and participates in monthly safety meetings.
  • Report all incidents and or safety concerns immediately to field supervisor or site manager.
  • Ensure all required safety tickets and training are up to date and completed.
  • On-call support as required.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Maintains proper communication and professionalism with administration and management staff.
  • Ability to use pressure and or electrical test equipment to troubleshoot systems.
  • Must use all tools in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Must participation in Company provided safety training (TDG, WHIMIS, Wilderness Awareness, Gas Detection & Control, and eGSO).
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) drawings.
  • Work after hours and participate in an on-call schedule as required.
  • Maintains good customer relations.
  • Technical training or understanding of oil and gas processes.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills with the ability to learn and use an ERP (IFS) system and a remote work order (MWO/Aurena) system.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screen.
  • Standard First Aid/CPR with AED; H2S Alive.
  • Certificate in Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) and Common Safety Orientation (CSO).
  • Work experience in the Oil and Gas industry is an asset.

Education:

  • Must be a Journeyman or have interprovincial Red Seal Certificate in Electrical.

Compensation:  $44/hr
