POSITION GOAL

The Family Learning Connection (FLC) Program Manager will provide oversite and guidance for the program as it develops, implements and maintains a community-based system delivering parent education and learning opportunities for parents with children less than six years of age residing and/or working in Linn County.

 

Wage and Schedule

Monday-Friday 8:00 am- 5:00 pm (some non-traditional hours may be needed); $24.72 hourly. 

*This position is eligible for a $1200 retention incentive after successfully completing 180 days of employment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Supports the education of parents and caregivers with a child zero to five throughout Linn County to expand parent education opportunities.
  2. Serves as a HACAP liason with the FLC families, to ensure that families are knowledgable about agency services.
  3. Models, implements and assesses research based or best practice strategies related to parent education and will become an educational resource within the community. 
  4. Follows policies, procedures, and compliance standards in accordance with HACAP.
  5. Provides leadership and implements day-to-day operations of FLC activities 
  6. Supervises the FLC Program Coordinator, FLC Facilitators, and FLC Childcare. 
  7. Provides oversight, planning and coordination of parent education classes and resource materials and helps the community understand the importance of parent education. 
  8. Develops cooperative working relationships and partnerships with organizations in the community that will further advance the goals of FLC.
  9. Facilitates at least two parent education classes within the fiscal year. (In person)
  10. Adheres to standards laid out by the Iowa Family Support Credential.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. Bachelor’s Degree required in early childhood education, child development, social work or other field related to parent education.
  2. Two years of experience working with parents of preschool age children.
  3. Experience demonstrating strong organizational and communication skills.
  4. Supervisory and previous management experience desired.

  5. Earn and maintain State of Iowa issued Family Support Credential once hired
