Job Description
A regular full-time position (40 hours) with a focus on GIS analysis, data management, map production, field data collection surveys, and web GIS configuration/testing for the Canada branch of GEI. The candidate will provide GIS support to various disciplines, including, but not limited to, the ecological, municipal engineering and climate change teams in Canada. This position can be based out of Kitchener, Markham or Barrie.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include developing GIS data from various formats such as sketch, drawing, text file or other non-GIS format, field data collection, data queried from relational database, and data downloaded from external website or web service; creation and management of Geospatial databases; using ESRI ArcGIS Desktop Suite software and geographic analysis to process, format, analyze, and manage data; providing support for cartographic design and high-quality map production projects, such as creating and using maps; editing, updating and compiling spatial data; analyzing spatial data and mapped information.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Geography, or GIS related field, or Accredited College Diploma with an emphasis in GIS
- Experience working in ESRI ArcGIS.
- Excellent editing skills in GIS
- Ability to perform quality checks on data.
- Familiarity with scripting and programming, a plus
