Nevada Copper (TSX:NCU) is a copper producer and owner of the Pumpkin Hollow copper project. Located in Nevada, USA, Pumpkin Hollow has substantial reserves and resources including copper, gold, and silver. Its two fully permitted projects include the high-grade underground mine and processing facility, which is now in the production stage, and a large-scale open pit project, which is advancing towards feasibility status. 

Purpose of the Position:

The Applications and Data Analytics Engineer is responsible for enterprise applications and data analytics, including system administration, license management, application life cycle management, integration, data engineering, data extraction, and detailed analysis and visualization as well as other related duties.  

Accountability:

The Applications and Data Analytics Engineer reports directly to the Head of IT in all aspects of the NV Copper enterprise applications and data analytics environment and is accountable for all aspects of second-level support within that environment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The below list of required qualifications is not intended to be comprehensive, other duties will be included and assigned as required. 

Enterprise Applications Management

  • Coordinate and provide support for Enterprise Resource Planning, Operational Technology, & Mining Applications
  • Interface with the business users to create the functional and technical specifications documentation for Applications
  • Writes specifications for customizations, data migration, and systems integrations
  • Support the Azure DevOps processes regarding requirement gathering, design, coding, testing, and deployment of Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) changes
  • Software license management
  • Application administration, troubleshooting, and support
  • Ensure adherence to software governance and standards
  • Application lifecycle management
  • Regularly review and manage application versioning, patching, etc.
  • Research on new applications and assess fit to business requirements
  • Manages application security 
  • Applications Governance, Risk, and Compliance 
  • Manage projects related to applications deployment 

Data Analytics & Engineering 

  • Design, development, deployment, and support of enterprise data platform based upon Microsoft Azure Services
  • Create and enforce policies for effective data management, including techniques for data accuracy and legitimacy
  • Effective use of statistics and data sciences to drive a scientific approach to analytics
  • Gather requirements, architect, and deploy reports and dashboards
  • Business Intelligence system development and administration
  • Manages backup, restores, package implementation, upgrades, access security, process orchestration, etc.
  • Database Monitoring and Performance tuning
  • Database migration, deployment, and disaster recovery
  • Maintain and manage monitoring tools and other applications related to database management
  • Apply change control procedures
  • Interact with vendors, service providers, and other 3rd parties
  • Ensure the achievement of high availability of application and data analytics infrastructure that support business functions by providing a report on SLAs/KPI metrics
  • Develop application and data analytics standards, policies, and procedures
  • Project and program management that exhibits leadership in process re-engineering and implementation of the process, technology, strategy, and organizational change
  • Ad-hoc tasks and projects assigned by the Head of IT

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure that all safety procedures and regulatory guidelines are followed
  • Support the site safety culture through safe work practices
  • Participate in health and safety meetings and risk reviews as required

Knowledge / Education:

The Applications and Data Analytics Engineer should be proficient with the following attributes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years in Data Science, Database Administration, or ERP Support roles
  • Experience developing and supporting analytics on Tableau or PowerBI etc.
  • Experience with data modeling and architecting cloud data solutions
  • Experience implementing or managing Enterprise Resource Planning Systems, e.g., Microsoft Dynamics
  • Experience working with Cloud DW, Azure Data Lakes, and Azure Data Factory
  • Expertise with standard ITIL processes, including Change, Incident, Request fulfillment, and Release management
  • Microsoft and PMI certifications a plus
  • Prior experience working within an Agile framework (Scrum/Kanban)
  • Experience working in Mining / Oil & Gas / Heavy Manufacturing a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Work Schedule and Personal Protective Equipment:

The incumbent works a minimum 40 hour/week schedule. Schedules are subject to change and position may require weekend, evening work, or extended hours depending on business needs. Personal Protective Equipment required for this position includes, but is not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots.  All equipment must be MSHA approved as applicable.
