Your role at GEI.

While most of our team members are concentrated in southern Ontario, we are not limited by geography, nor do we buy into the world of daily commuting. Our team operates from virtual, home-based offices to reduce the environmental and social effects of commuting and to help extend our geographic presence across the marketplace. We stay connected through regular meetings, the use of a wide array of technology, and specialized collaborative workspaces.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Project management and technical lead for: natural channel and wetland creation, remediation, rehabilitation, and restoration design/engineering; geomorphic, ecohydraulic, and geomorphic assessments; constructed wetlands for stormwater and wastewater treatment; and low impact development structures
  • Prepare technical scopes of work for proposals and projects, project budgets, requests for proposals for contractors, and technical reports
  • Lead proposal teams and presentations
  • Lead and participate on multi-disciplinary, multi-geographic project teams
  • Maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participation in client-based professional organizations, and attendance and presentations at industry events
  • Manage projects and staff, including technical leadership and oversight, risk management, and mentoring
  • Assist in recruiting and training additional staff
  • This position has a field component; travel and some overnight travel are required

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent in experience is required
  • Professional Geologist (P. Geo) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng) is required
  • 10+ years’ experience in undertaking and leading a range of geomorphological studies including catchment scale assessments down to local, reach based assessments, design of river realignments, restoration or habitat creation schemes
  • Complete analyses (hydraulic and geomorphic relations) for river characterization and to support hazard and natural channel design projects
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing a water balance-based approach to land development
  • Integrate with a multidisciplinary team of ecologists, biologists and engineers to provide holistic and robust analysis and design solutions
  • A valid Class G driver license with no restrictions and a clean driving record
