About the Role

The Solutions Engineering team within For The Record creates industry-shaping products, platforms, and innovation by driving the strategic development and use of technology, building robust and scalable systems and products to empower our business, advance justice and transform the way courts operate.

The Senior Director of Solutions Engineering is a key leadership position within For The Record. This role reports to the SVP, Engineering & Innovation, and is responsible for leading a diverse team of engineers specializing in network, audiovisual and broadcast systems engineering, audio digital signal processing, recording systems and media content management/storage/distribution tools.

The team members are industry and domain experts that design and guide the deployment of technical infrastructure and digital recording solutions across courtroom and law enforcement facilities worldwide.

The Senior Director is a thought leader – internally and externally – and will have exceptional communication, and project management skills, years of management experience, a belief in developing the skills and talents of others. The leader will also contribute domain specific technical subject matter knowledge, be actively willing to lead by example and be responsible for ensuring that our solutions are designed and delivered on modular, scalable and reliable platforms that can be seamlessly and efficiently integrated and supported by our implementation partners, both internal and external. The role will be responsible for evolving repeatable processes, job architectures, enablement and other programs needed to achieve this scale and increase delivery performance.

Additionally, this leader will effectively partner with different For The Record divisions to deliver strategically aligned solutions that meet wider business objectives, ensuring that feedback from the field is making its way into the product and GTM strategy.

Responsibilities:

This leader will set the organizational structure of the Solutions Engineering team and work closely with leadership to set objectives and drive effective short and long-term plans. This position requires a strategic thinker with a diverse background and a proven track record of leading large-scale efforts from concept through delivery. This leader will have a strong senior presence and excel at driving results, building relationships, and creating innovation.

  • Understand organization priorities to ensure solution development efforts are aligned, with all work and deliverables being proactively managed with clearly defined outcomes
  • Lead the research, development and documentation of all technical solutions initiatives (e.g. technology refresh of courtrooms, network architecture, portable solutions etc.)
  • Developing standards and procedures to ensure that quality standards are met and consistent.
  • Create strategies for optimization and efficiency in all aspects of solution development
  • Preparing and optimizing budgets.
  • Collaborate with client facilities divisions and architecture firms on new construction and refurbishment projects
  • Serve as technology counsel to key internal/external clients
  • Maintain and grow vendor relationships
  • Guide engineering standard operating policies and procedures
  • Guide and mentor the engineering team on fiscal planning, management of budgets and long-range plans
  • Utilize effective leadership practices to attract, develop and retain top talent at all levels.
  • Provide leadership to the engineering team by setting clear objectives KPIs, and prioritizing goals
  • Fosters diversity & inclusion in hiring practices, culture, collaboration, and delivery

 Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience and at least 5 years of management experience leading highly skilled, driven technical professionals
  • Ability to lead on high-priority inter-department initiatives across organizational levels
  • Demonstrated strong business acumen with an understanding of the market and financial implications of new technical solutions
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of highly complex technical system architecture
  • Demonstrates in-depth technical knowledge of configuration and operation of a large range of technical equipment, preferably with audio visual experience
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of IP networks, compression methods, video/audio formats, metadata and file-based/streaming technologies, protocols, and standards
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of current trends, technology advances, new products and best practices in production, transmission, and broadcast operations.
  • Ability and willingness to collaborate with business partners across the organization to help drive success
  • Must be knowledgeable about industry trends, best practices, and change management.
