We are seeking a Superintendent to join our team! The Superintendent will manage all functions of the job site while providing excellent customer service. Will work together with project managers and engineers to form an effective management team for our clients. The Superintendent provides supervision and coordination of subcontractors and other partners while ensuring safe conditions on the job sites
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Uses Nichols Contracting, Inc.’s Performance Values as tools to carry out all job responsibilities.
- Create and mage project schedule
- Monitor the work of subcontractors, laborers, and other partners to ensure compliance with relevant laws, protection of the company from risk, and compliance with established budgets and deadlines.
- Guides and assists employees in identifying, analyzing, and resolving existing or anticipated obstacles in a manner to meet task/project schedules.
- Identify the causes of cost variances and eliminate negative variances.
- Maintain high-quality control while implementing good construction safety practices with all on-site activity.
- Cultivates working relationships with managers, supervisors, fellow workers, and customers that encourage a cooperative environment.
- Conduct systematic quality control inspections.
- Makes routine inspections of assigned projects. Makes routine weekly inspections of projects to verify project scope and specifications, company standards, and compliance are within local and National Electric Code.
- Manages job site cleanliness
- Accurately documents project work situations in a timely manner, both written and verbal, to ensure the protection of the Company through proper documentation (i.e. possible liens and or claims).
- Prepares daily logs.
- Understands and follows state, and local codes.
- Ability to modify behavior style and management to effectively manage tasks requiring a change in work plans or schedule.
- Understanding and enforcement of O.S.H.A. requirements.
- Set by example acceptable work practices that will be emulated by fellow employees.
- Reports to the Human Resources department any illegal activities occurring on the worksite.
- Report accidents or incidents to the Human Resources in a timely manner as outlined per the Company policy manual.
- Inspects subcontractor performance to conform to contract agreements and schedules.
- Conducts project closings, updates punch lists and creates information for record drawings.
- Cultivates new business relationships and maintains existing relationships with clients through monthly public relations activities, and membership in professional trade-related organizations, associations, and other community groups, to identify new contacts and gain consideration in construction negotiations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should have strong customer service and communication skills with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction industry; at least 5 years in a management role.
Desired Skills and Competencies:
- Industrial and Government Construction experience is a plus
- Detail-oriented
- Proficient with reading, understanding, and interpreting plans, specifications, drawings, contracts, and other documents.
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-motivated
- OSHA 30, First Aid, & CPR Certification
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges
- Ability to work well under pressure and consistently meet critical deadlines
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) experience is required
