Job Summary

The Engineering Technician- Distributed Energy Resources (DER) is expected to promote and support LPEA’s Mission and Vision, Strategic Goals and Initiatives, the Code of Excellence, and LPEA’s Leadership Principles. The Engineering Technician- DER is expected to collaborate and partner with the departments and the executive team at LPEA to promote a culture of safety for employees and the community.

Essential Functions

  • Safely and reliably integrate Distributed Energy Resources to LPEA’s grid
  • Optimize placement of energy storage projects
  • Coordinate/lead projects or portions of projects (including phases such as research, design, equipment selection, procurement support, installation, and commissioning), under the direction of a higher-level engineer or supervisor
  • Ensure connectivity of LPEA-managed devices
  • Develop reports that fully leverage the LPEA’s various data systems (including designs, testing, calculations, reports, standards, etc.)
  • Assist with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Network Administration (including diagnostic checks, detecting/solving device failures, and device and system programming)

Requirements

Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited curriculum (or recognized equivalency)
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Highly Preferred

  • EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering)
  • Prior experience with Distributed Energy Resources
  • 2+ years of relevant engineering experience

Compensation

Annual salary range- $66,101-$80,946
