Job Summary
Common Laborers are new construction professionals who will perform various tasks involving physical labor on underground residential electric distribution systems. Starting hourly pay rate is $16.50 per hour, depending on experience.
Essential Functions
- Operate hand and/or power tools (hammers, sledgehammers, pry bars, screwdrivers, etc.)
- Hand-digging trench with shovels for placement of conduit around live utility services
- Use a jackhammer 10-90 lbs. – vertical and horizontal
- Use asphalt saw and quickie saw
- Operate tamper in a ditch
- Handle 20’ pipe joints, will hand to other workers in a ditch
- Climb ladders
- Handle 4x8x3/4” plywood
- Push a manual wheelbarrow and operate a mechanical wheelbarrow
- Load and unload miscellaneous materials – lumber, plywood, cement bags, sandbags, 5-gallon buckets, etc.
- Availability Monday thru Friday 7 am to 5:30 pm (up to 55 hours per week)
- Assist other craft workers as needed
- Perform other labor-related duties as assigned by the supervisor

Required Skills & Experience
- Physical ability to perform assigned labor-related tasks (climbing ladders, climbing in and out of ditches)
- Physical ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds
- General labor skills
- Basic knowledge of operating hand and power tools (hammers, sledgehammers, pry bars, screwdrivers, etc.)
- A valid Texas driver's license is recommended but not required
