Your role at GEI.

GEI is seeking respected professionals who aspire to have a positive impact on GEI’s growing geotechnical & earth sciences design team and are interested in working collaboratively with a talented team of design, management, and technical leaders. GEI will provide a unique opportunity to collaborate across multiple practices to successfully deliver hydrogeological, geotechnical and environmental design/engineering solutions for our clients in the Ontario Market. 

Job Description

This position will support GEI’s geotechnical & earth sciences practice in our Kitchener and Markham, Ontario offices, which provides services in a wide range of settings.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform geo-environmental and hydrogeological engineering tasks such as field investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, well monitoring and in-situ testing, analysis and calculations under supervision of a senior staff.
  • Aid in preparation of technical reports, memos, analysis and specifications.
  • Collaborate with the geotechnical and environmental staff on joint projects, as well as collaborate with and support other GEI teams (e.g., environmental monitoring; environmental impact assessment; ecological restoration design; geostructural, municipal, etc.) on various projects.
  • Attendance at project meetings.
  • Promote health and safety in all aspects of work.

Qualifications

  • Pursuit of Bachelor’s or Masters of Science/Engineering degree in hydrogeological, geo-environmental or related field.
  • Desire to work on geotechnical, hydrogeological and environmental field and design projects.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic and high degree of motivation.
  • Experience with field equipment.
  • Committed to technical excellence.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent computer skills with technical analysis software, MS Office, MS Project, and other computer applications.
  • Valid driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle.
