ABOUT THE ROLE

The Wraparound Parent Partner utilizes their own experiences as the parent/caregiver of a child who has experienced trauma and/or significant emotional/behavioral issues, and involvement in one or more child serving systems, to deliver direct supportive services to parents/caregivers of a child referred to or receiving wraparound services.  The Parent Partner ensures that parent/caregiver/family voice and choice is understood and utilized by other wraparound team members.  Connects families to supports and resources within their community and engages family in the wraparound process.  Advocates for family needs within the team and community.  Provides services in client homes, schools or other convenient community locations.  Position requires flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends to accommodate family’s needs.

TYPICAL DUTIES

  • Meets with client regularly, communicating compassion, support, respect, and enthusiasm for them.
  • Listens to the family’s story and, with them, identifies strengths, needs, preferences, and goals.
  • Relates personal experience as a person with lived experience, to assist in building trust.
  • Works with the client to identify and reach out to natural supports to engage them in the wraparound process.
  • Assesses and reviews the family’s ability to communicate their own position and preferences.
  • Supports the family to maximize their participation and voice in the development of the cross-system care plan.
  • Brainstorms and negotiates strategies that build on family strengths.
  • Provides a range of supportive interventions and activities as agreed to with the family and documented in the cross-system care plan.
  • Assists the family in analyzing progress towards goals and encourages their feedback to other team members.
  • Maintains productivity standards for direct service as established for the position.
  • Ensures timely collection of statistical information for external funding sources and program evaluations.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable agency contracts and adheres to all Federal, State and Local confidentiality requirements and guidelines. Performs periodic reviews of documentation on regular basis when required by WISe Coach or when need arises (self-audit).
  • Participates in scheduled supervision, team meetings and administrative meetings. Utilizes reflective supervision to support professional growth and quality client care.
  • Remains current with professional development requirements through seminars, etc.
  • Complies with all Childhaven policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Self-identify as a parent/caregiver to a child who has experienced trauma and/or significant emotional/behavioral issues and has been involved in at least one child serving system (e.g., special education, early intervention, child welfare)
  • Experienced positive child/family outcomes
  • Have or obtain the Peer Counselor Certification from the State of Washington within 6 months of hire (Childhaven will support you logistically to obtain this certification)
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and safe driving record, have state required minimum automobile insurance, and be able to use own vehicle for the job
  • Childhaven background check and drug screen requirement
  • A cleared portable background check through Washington Department of Early Learning
  • Maintain current certifications including Child/infant CPR, first aid and AED, HIV and blood borne pathogens

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience in a peer support role.

To achieve this, Childhaven uses a grade and step approach to determine the compensation of each team member based on years of relevant experience.
