ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Is this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals? Some of the key responsibilities for the position include:

  • Conducting geotechnical and environmental field investigations;
  • Monitoring civil and environmental remediation construction projects;
  • Installation and monitoring of geotechnical instrumentation;
  • Using traditional or computer-based technical tools to perform engineering calculations (e.g., slope stability, excavation support, settlement, etc.);
  • Supporting landfill and waste containment system design and permitting,  environmental remediation, earthquake engineering, and offshore field investigation projects;
  • Reviewing and interpreting geotechnical data such as boring logs and laboratory test results;
  • Developing construction documents (e.g., specifications, drawings, work plans); and
  • Writing and reviewing engineering reports.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, which will all be paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: This position may include performing fieldwork up to 50% of your working hours.
  • Overnight travel: This position may include overnight travel up to 30% of your work week.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor's degree in civil and/or environmental engineering or geology. (required)
  • Advanced degree in geotechnical engineering. (preferred)
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, if applicable. (preferred)

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Outstanding academic credentials and exceptional interpersonal, technical writing, and analytical and problem-solving skills. (required)
  • Technical knowledge in geotechnical, environmental, or civil engineering related disciplines. (required)
  • Prior internship or co-op in the engineering field. (preferred)
  • Up to 5 years of related work experience in geotechnical engineering consulting, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (preferred) 
  • Experience with geotechnical and engineering software such as SLIDE and numerical modeling tools such as PLAXIS. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
