Position Overview: The Machine Monitoring Specialist is essential to ensuring Coastline Equipment’s fleet operates with minimal downtime. Based at our Corporate Headquarters in Long Beach, CA, or in North Las Vegas, NV, this role is responsible for monitoring, distributing, and tracking all telematics-related data, Expert Alerts, and JDLink™ Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Using remote diagnostic tools, the Machine Monitoring Specialist quickly identifies issues, enabling our team to proactively address and resolve equipment problems to keep projects on track.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor Telematics Data: Track incoming Expert Alerts and Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), distributing alerts to the relevant team members or contacting customers directly when necessary.
- Remote Diagnostics: Use Service ADVISOR™ Remote and Remote Display Access (RDA) for remote diagnostics to identify potential issues efficiently.
- Communication and Documentation: Provide concise summaries of actionable recommendations to stakeholders and maintain detailed work orders with remote diagnostic information.
- Technical Knowledge Maintenance: Keep up-to-date on engine, hydraulic, and electrical system schematics, as well as repair manuals, to ensure precision in diagnostics and recommendations.
- Team Collaboration: Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, demonstrating commitment to teamwork and customer service.
- Continuous Development: Participate in Factory Certified Capstone Training programs to develop and enhance skills and technical knowledge.
- Additional Duties: May take on CDI (Certified Dealer Instructor) and Technical Communicator duties, as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years performing service repairs and diagnostics, with a focus on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems (construction, lawn, or heavy equipment experience preferred).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with computer functions and diagnostic systems; experience using Deere systems is highly preferred.
- Communication Skills: Strong customer service skills, with the ability to effectively communicate in both written and spoken formats to individuals and groups.
- Educational Background: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Core Competencies: Demonstrated commitment to safety, professional demeanor, and ability to collaborate across departments.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience with agricultural and turf equipment, especially in a dealership or service-oriented setting.
- Familiarity with the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in off-road or heavy construction equipment.
- Certification in areas relevant to the role, such as those offered by John Deere or other industry leaders, is an asset.
Work Environment:
- Office-based position with minimal on-site travel requirements.
- Physical demands include the ability to engage in regular phone conversations, safely climb on and off equipment, and occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Typical work environment is moderately active, with potential exposure to varied indoor conditions.
Reporting Structure:
- Reports directly to the Machine Monitoring Manager.
- May collaborate with Service Technicians, Sales Representatives, and other support teams to provide comprehensive service to our clients.
