Job Description

GEI Consultants Inc. is seeking a full time Landscape Architect for our ecological restoration and natural heritage system design projects. The landscape architect would work collaboratively with the natural science and engineering team to design, build and monitor created/ restored wetland, grassland, woodland, and wildlife habitats, including habitats for species at risk.  Our environmental design work contributes to healthier cities and communities, where people benefit from the ecosystem services provided by nature. GEIs ecological restoration team includes expertise in terrestrial and aquatic ecology, species at risk, landscape architecture, climate change, Indigenous engagement, environmental engineering, hydrogeology, and fluvial geomorphology.

Primary Responsibilities:

Collaborate and coordinate with natural scientists, engineers, and fluvial geomorphologists to provide landscape design services, including:

  • Fee proposals/terms of reference for potential projects;
  • Conceptual design, detailed design drawings and construction contracts, tender and contract administration documents;
  • Construction administration and project closeout;
  • Manage project within fee scope
  • Delegate, manage and mentor staff

Qualifications

  • Full OALA membership with seal (required);
  • 5+ years professional experience in an office setting as a Landscape Architect;
  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Landscape Architecture or Landscape Design;
  • Experience in designing with ecological principles;
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and time management skills;
  • Experience managing projects and clients;
  • Excellent understanding of technical drawings, detailing and specifications;
  • Efficient with AutoCAD and other plugins and add-ons;
  • Proficient in SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator; and
  • Proficient with MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Other Qualifications Considered Beneficial:

  • BES or BSc in natural sciences; or
  • Degree or diploma in ecological restoration; or
  • ISA arborist certification.
