Role

The Security Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day security operations at the Lithium Nevada Corporation Mining Facility, located at Thacker Pass, in Orovada, Nevada. The Security Manager will provide leadership, supervision, strategic direction, tactical support, and innovative solutions to unique, spontaneous, and critical security issues, which influence the safety, security, and well-being of employees, as well as protecting physical and intellectual assets at Thacker Pass and other locations in the area. Other areas may include Lithium Nevada properties located in Orovada and the Lithium Nevada Administrative Office located in Winnemucca, Nevada.

This position will report to the Sr. Project Director at Thacker Pass located near Winnemucca, Nevada.

Responsibilities

As a key member of the team, we would look to you to deliver on the following:

  • Develop policies and procedures to support and enhance the security and safety in support of the lithium mining operations at Thacker Pass
  • Help to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policy, guidelines, and record-keeping requirements
  • Conduct regular walk-throughs and security inspections at Lithium Nevada properties
  • Conduct risk assessments on all Lithium Nevada area sites as needed, incident reporting, physical security, guard operations, access control, investigations support, executive protection, Special Event Security, Business Continuity planning, etc.
  • Manage and coordinate emergency situations, including crisis planning/response, hazard mitigation and business continuity for Thacker Pass and above-mentioned sites
  • Assist with the development, communication and implementation of loss prevention strategies ensuring appropriate control levels are in place and verified for major value assets such as physical property and operations supporting lithium mining activities
  • Conduct initial investigation of crimes committed against client or its employees and report immediately to local authorities. These may include misappropriation, theft, industrial espionage, threats, due diligence, computer crimes, competitive intelligence, accidents, claims, conflicts of interest, assault, harassment, employee vetting, litigation support, etc.
  • Provide accurate and timely consultation and advice to management regarding security issues
  • Identify and engage cost effective external resources to provide on-demand security assistance. This includes law enforcement personnel, consultants, private investigators, etc.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with applicable corporate security and safety standards, policies, and procedures
  • Identify and comply with Governmental (both domestic and international) required security programs
  • Coordinate with local, state, federal law enforcement and public safety agencies
    • Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT)
    • Chemical Facilities Anti-Terrorism Standards program (CFATS)
  • Ability to travel domestically if required
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 10-15 years of combined law enforcement and security management experience
  • Extensive knowledge of security protocol and procedures
  • Established relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement and public safety agencies
  • Excellent Work Record
  • Knowledge and experience with security systems to include CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and Integrated Systems Technology in support of Physical Security
  • Knowledge and Experience with Physical Security Operations
  • Excellent personnel management and supervision skills
  • Ability to work with confidential and classified information
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 24/7 availability to respond to incidents and/or threats
