Heavy Truck Mechanic - TM0123

Sanders Brothers Construction is currently seeking a Heavy Truck Mechanic. The Heavy Truck Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining fleet of heavy truck and general-purpose vehicle fleet to support construction related projects in accordance with Department of Transportation and company safety guidelines. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Ability to perform minor or major repairs on fleet consisting of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles/trucks and trailers.
  • Performs routine maintenance to assure proper running of company vehicles.
  • Must show ability to operate computer systems to assist with diagnostics on company’s fleet vehicles (CAT, Cummins, Allison, Davies, etc.)
  • Have a knowledge of engines, transmissions, electrical, a/c systems, steering-suspension systems, emissions/exhaust systems, brake systems, hydraulic systems, air/pneumatic systems and be able to repair in accordance with DOT laws and manufactures specs.
  • Assisting other technicians in performing repairs as needed.
  • Must have a good attitude and is dedicated to their work.
  • Must be able to perform road calls as needed.
  • Must have own tools and be able to operate shops tools (presses, welders, A/C equipment, etc.)
  • Must be able to lift over 20 pounds and climb.
  • Must be able to fill out DOT and company required repair paperwork and records.
  • Keeps company management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
  • Maintains an organized and safe work area.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience in automotive/heavy truck repairs or technical school graduate
  • High School Diploma.
  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License and provide 3-year motor vehicle record which meets the minimum operating standards in accordance with SBCC vehicle operation policy.
  • Pre-employment drug test/physical/ background check will help assure we build teams of people who can best work with others and serve customer needs.

Preferred Skills

  • Certified to perform Federal Inspections and Brake system repairs.
  • TIA certified.
  • A/C certified.
  • Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B preferred.
