Michael Dunn Center is seeking full-time applicants for the position of Early Interventionist. The scope of this position focuses on providing developmental therapy to families whose children, ages birth to four years, have qualified for services thru Tennessee’s Early Intervention System (TEIS). Applicants will travel within their service area to meet families and children weekly in their homes and/or other natural settings and maintain a home office. Counties in the agency’s service area include Roane, Knox, Morgan, Anderson, Campbell, Scott and Union.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide developmental therapy under the guidelines of TEIS, maintaining a caseload of 20 children/families.
  • Implement a coaching model with families that is family guided and routine based.
  • Complete written documentation of each developmental therapy session using specific guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships within the IFSP team.
  • Attend MDC monthly team meetings, annual statewide Building Best Practice conference and other training opportunities.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree [and/or masters or doctorate degree] in Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Child and FamilyStudies (child development), Early Intervention, Deaf Education or Visual Disabilities, Special Education K-12, Elementary Education, Communication Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology, and/or related field.
  • Three [3] years of documented experience working with children with disabilities 0-5 years of age and their families preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with families using adult learning principles
  • Ability to navigate technology in the form of virtual meetings/online data entry/etc
  • Ability to understand and respect values, attitudes and beliefs from varying familial backgrounds and cultures
  • Maintain excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Internet access/technology/cell phone
  • Valid TN driver’s license in good standing, dependable transportation, acceptable criminal background check, acceptable drug screen results required
