Job Description

GEI is seeking an Environmental Engineer/Geologist/Scientist in our St. Louis, Missouri office to support our environmental consulting and engineering practice in the Midwest. 

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Under supervision of senior staff, candidates will work with team leads locally and nationally on a variety of environmental projects.
  • Responsibilities will include field investigations consisting of test borings, monitor well installations, and environmental sampling (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and vapor).
  • Candidates will be responsible for providing technical oversight to subcontractors, including evaluation of field activities and assisting in the development of investigation workplans.
  • Candidates can expect to perform data management and analysis, prepare reports, and assist in preparation and delivery of technical presentations to senior staff, clients, and/or regulators.
  • This position has a field component. Travel to project sites, including overnight travel, is required. Candidates should be prepared to work in inclement conditions, year-round, and without restrictions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil, Geological, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, or Environmental Science.
  • 4-7 years of previous professional experience in environmental consulting or related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Clear, concise, and persuasive writing is a core requirement for this role.
  • Strong quantitative evaluation skills are a key requirement for this role.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with MS Office Suite - especially Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • The ability to build strong relationships.
  • Enjoy and be capable of inventive problem solving.
  • Willing and enthusiastic to learn new skills.
  • Must be willing and able to travel on short-term and long-term assignments as needed.
  • Must hold a valid U.S. Driver’s license.
  • Due to client requirements for anticipated projects, candidate must be willing to submit to and pass random drug screenings.
