Position Overview: The Shop Service Technician is essential to Coastline Equipment’s service operations, providing expert diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs for John Deere construction equipment at our Oxnard, California location. This role requires a commitment to high-quality service, safety standards, and client communication, ensuring customers experience the maximum reliability and performance from their equipment. As a Shop Service Technician, you will support customer clinics, maintain up-to-date knowledge of equipment advancements, and directly impact Coastline Equipment’s reputation for excellence and reliability.
Job Responsibilities:
- Equipment Diagnostics and Repair: Perform complex diagnostics and repairs on-site for construction and compact worksite products (CWP), ensuring equipment is restored to optimal working conditions.
- Technical Training Participation: Complete required Service EDUCATE Training programs, continually enhancing technical skills and product knowledge.
- Customer Support and Documentation: Engage directly with customers to review and explain maintenance, repairs, and service concerns, documenting all interactions thoroughly on work orders.
- Promote Dealer Services: Actively promote and sell Coastline Equipment’s dealer service programs, providing clients with service options that meet their needs.
- Inventory Collaboration: Work with the Parts Department to develop and maintain effective stocking processes, ensuring a well-supplied seasonal inventory.
- Product Knowledge: Stay current on John Deere products and competitive equipment, supporting customers with informed service and maintenance.
- Vehicle and Tool Maintenance: Maintain the condition of service vehicles, trailers, tools, and equipment to Coastline Equipment standards.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety rules and regulations, following best practices in all work assignments.
- Reporting and Accountability: Complete all required reports and documentation for work assignments, accurately accounting for all time and materials used.

Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in service repairs, with a strong foundation in diagnostic and maintenance work.
- Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
- Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in construction and CWP equipment.
- Competence in using Service Advisor and basic computer functions to support diagnostics.
- Ability to operate vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
- Physically capable of lifting at least 75 lbs. repeatedly and performing hands-on technical tasks.
- Advanced or Master Service Technician certification preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred.
- Forklift certification preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old, per safety regulations.
Physical Demands:
- Physically able to work on heavy and diesel equipment, with the ability to handle tools and equipment.
- Comfortable working in settings with extreme cold or heat, depending on seasonal conditions.
- Able to stand, kneel, crawl, and climb ladders for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. independently.

- Wage: Dependent on experience (DOE).
