Position Summary

The Manager – Philanthropy & Service will allocate their time equally between the following:

  • Leading the day-to-day operations of the Foundation and assisting the multi-generation family Board in developing future strategies for Philanthropy and Service in the communities where Herr’s operates
  • Planning, organizing and leading corporate volunteerism and community service opportunities for Herr’s employees so we continue to nurture a “spirit of generosity” among all Herr’s employees

The Manager will collaborate closely with the JSHFF Board as well as corporate management to develop the best strategies for mission growth through intentional gifting through various channels.

Terms:

Status: Full-time, Salaried

Work Schedule: Open for discussion. May require 40 – 50 hours per week and involve some evening and weekend activities.  We have some flexibility here, so please do not let the proposed work schedule keep you from applying.

Reports To: Executive Assistant to CEO & President

Major Responsibilities:

  • Communicate clearly, compellingly, and consistently the Foundation’s mission and goals.
  • Work collegially, responsibly, and responsively with the Foundation Board and staff to carry out the mission, while recommending grants and projects for Board approval.
  • Plan, direct, implement and evaluate the organization’s day-to-day operations and ensure that all activities of the Foundation are conducted in accordance with applicable laws governing private foundations.
  • Engage with local stakeholders on projects focused on aiding and supporting healthy community growth.
  • Meet with Chaplaincy leaders quarterly.
  • Grow all Human Resources and corporate “assistance” programs (i.e., Herr’s Cares Fund, Helping Hands, Partners in Service, Scholarships, etc.) and advise Board on total Company and Foundation dollars gifted.
  • Function as a liaison between the family members and the Foundation and encourage family members to be active and involved in some way.
  • Supervise Herr’s product donations activities / staff.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams effectively and a proven ability to mentor and coach others to success.
  • Ideally possesses some supervisory / management experience in a team-based environment (i.e., company, church, sports coaching, etc.) with demonstrated ability to learn and grow
  • An undergraduate degree is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good business judgement and analytic ability.
