ABOUT THE ROLE
The Philanthropy Development Officer (PDO) helps advance the mission, vision, values, and goals of the organization by providing a wide array of support to the Development Department. The PDO will organize and represent Childhaven at tabling events, maintain relations with donors and volunteers, and lead site tours for the agency.

Located in our Creekmore location in Burien, Washington, this position reports to the Director of Major Gifts.

TYPICAL DUTIES

90%:    Identification of donor leads

  • Maintain list of weekly leads identified through various sources:
    • Prospect research
    • Analytics/screening on database
    • Giving information
    • Referrals
    • Event and web signups
    • Tabling events and speaking engagements
    • Monthly tour and engagement events
    • Occasional item drives
  • Lead Childhaven monthly tours.
  • Represent Childhaven at tabling events/speaking engagements, utilizing volunteers when appropriate.
  • Assist Program Marketing Coordinator with occasional item drives and volunteer groups.
  • Maintain regular cadence of communication to leads for qualification.
  • Develop and follow process for qualifying leads.

Qualification of leads

  • Reach out to leads to determine their connection to the organization and whether there is interest in learning more about Childhaven.
  • If yes, introduce and/or schedule meeting with Green Team.
  • If no, notate and move back to annual giving pool.

10%:    Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree in marketing, business development, or closely related field.
  • Previous work experience in fundraising, sales, or business development.
  • Commitment on meeting and exceeding goals and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Able to pass a background check.
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend work, and availability to travel for the job.
  • Ability to self-organize and create processes/schedules to move work along.
  • Willing to try many different methods of engaging with people.
  • Ability to create opportunities to bring more people closer to Childhaven.
  • Motivated to get results and engage with many different audiences to find leads.
  • Passionate about Childhaven, able to represent the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and with conversing with people from various backgrounds.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
