RESEARCH DIRECTOR

Reports to:  Sr. Research Director/Account Executive/Vice President /EVP

Experience:  4 - 7 years in Survey Research

 

Job Summary:

SSRS is seeking a Research Director (RD) to join our team. SSRS conducts research around a wide variety of topics, including health care, public opinion, politics, sports, technology, religion, media use, financial health, and a host of other important issues. Our clients come from academic, non-profit, government, and commercial sectors and our work informs critical decision-making in all those areas. Our team is made up of people who are passionate about research and are skilled in all aspects of the research process, including study design; quantitative data collection using telephone, internet, mail, and mixed mode methods; qualitative research; and analysis and reporting. 

 

We are seeking a Research Director to manage a wide variety of survey research projects. The RD successfully oversees the implementation of high-quality survey research including web, mail, telephone, in-person, mixed mode, and qualitative studies. The RD is responsible for the execution of research projects from study initiation through delivery of data and reporting.

 

Ideal candidates are based in our Glen Mills, PA office, but remote work is a possibility for the right candidate.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a variety of activities critical to survey research, including questionnaire design and development; data collection; sampling and weighting; and qualitative research
  • Direct and oversee data preparation, quality control, analysis, and the creation of reports/presentations
  • Collaborate with AE/VP on business development and study design, including estimating projects and writing proposals, independently and/or with the Account Executive
  • Train and mentor junior staff
  • Manage and grow existing client relationships/ongoing communications
  • Monitor progress of data collection to meet goals and troubleshoot issues that emerge
  • Review internal/client project updates and determine course of action
  • Create and/or review final client deliverables, including SPSS files, cross-tabulations, and reports 
  • Monitor costs against budget
  • Assist in preparation of papers for presentations/white papers to be used for information dissemination
  • Prepare client-ready reports in Word and PowerPoint
  • Other duties as the needs of the business dictate

 

Position Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in social science, business, marketing, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum 4-7 years of survey research experience, including lead responsibilities in project execution/oversight
  • Ability to problem solve/critical thinking
  • Professional attitude and strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in data analysis and data visualization (e.g., graphics/charting)
  • Proficiency with SSPS
  • Ability to lead and direct cross-functional project teams
  • Proven organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and time-sensitive tasks
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
