Church Youth Pastor First Evangelical Free Church of Sioux Falls (FEFC) is seeking a full-time Youth Pastor to join our staff.  

We are looking for a person who:

  • Relates well with middle school and high school students
  • Is deeply interested in studying the Bible and teaching this age group based on that deep interest how they can build a relationship with God
  • Is a self-starter who can build relationships to support this teaching/discipleship vision

 The primary purpose of the Church Youth Pastor is to come alongside families to disciple young people, grades 6th through 12th, into saving and mature relationships with Jesus Christ.  The Youth Pastor’s main focus is to attempt to enrich the community at FEFC by building students into Word-saturated, Spirit-empowered ambassadors who passionately live and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What you’ll do:
All of these are to be done in dependence upon the work of the Holy Spirit

  • Exposit God’s word consistently, diligently, and prayerfully
  • Train students in systematic theology, to ensure their knowledge of God’s entire counsel
  • Plan and implement God-centered and engaging youth programs and events
  • Cultivate relationships with the students in our congregation
  • Disciple students in small group and one-on-one environments
  • Recruit, disciple, and sustain a team of adult volunteers to help disciple students
  • Communicate youth program and event information with students and parents
  • Cultivate evangelistic relationships with students not associated with our church
  • Submit an annual budget, and operate within budgetary guidelines
  • Support youth involvement in outreach and missions
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings for prayer and planning
  • Communicate consistently with those in authority: Pastor of Missions and Operations, Senior Pastor, and Elders

Other Responsibilities

  • Contribute on Sunday morning to the corporate worship experience
  • Fully invest into the community of FEFC
  • Fulfill all necessary clerical work
  • Fulfill general pastoral duties as shared by the pastoral team
  • And any other duties that are needed to further the mission of FEFC

Education and/or Experience we're looking for:

  • Seminary or Bible college degree preferred
  • Experience in teaching and/or youth ministry preferred

What you need to be successful:

  • Spiritually mature Christian who displays the fruit of the Spirit;
  • Enjoys and is effective in building positive relationships with middle and high school students.
  • Willing to affirm FEFC statement of faith and to pursue vocational ministry credential in the EFCA
  • Enthusiastic, self-starter who likes leading students and organizing events and activities
  • Can be trusted to proactively address challenges with appropriate balance of grace, mercy, and firmness;
  • Willing to become an active member of First Evangelical Free Church
