Collins Family of Companies is looking for a responsible individual as a Safety Specialist to lead the Company's safety initiatives and safety loss control programs, and continue in the development of a safety and risk management culture dedicated to being "best in class". Candidate will ensure the safety program is designed to comply with OSHA, MSHA and all other applicable regulatory standards.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Clearly articulate the Company’s safety vision, objectives, strategies, policies, and procedures in order to build a safety culture dedicated to behaviors which lead to best-in-class.
- Drives the Company’s safety vision
- Anticipating problems & providing solutions
- Sharing knowledge with, and providing training to all levels of Company employees
- Interacting with clients, subcontractors, and inspectors
- Creating an environment of learning, mentoring and empowerment in order to promote employee
- Conduct onsite safety and health audits.
- Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and conclusions, and monitors results to make improvements or take corrective action
- Ensures safety & health training meets the needs of internal and external (client & regulating entities) requirements, so staff has the safety training to safely perform tasks
- Conducts incident investigations, works to establish contributing and root causes and assists with the completion of company incident reports.
- Manages hazard assessment activities by
- Conducting safety inspections, and
- Analyzing inspection and incident data to identify opportunities to develop preventive and corrective practices.
- Collaborates with Director and safety team to develop annual plans for safety & health initiatives, including training.
- Conducts their work as a high performance, customer-oriented work team, assisting with motivation, coaching, appraising, rewarding, disciplining, and addressing complaints and resolving issues related to Company safety.
- Must be able to bend, lift heavy objects, sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, independently travel to job sites, walk the sites for the purpose of visual inspections, work in inclement and sometimes harsh weather conditions, climb ladders and scaffolding
- Weekend, night and out-of-town work may be required.

Qualifications:
- OSHA 500, ASP - CSP certification preferable
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction or mining industry safety management
- In depth technical knowledge of construction-related OSHA, MSHA federal, state, and local regulatory standards, ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement effective corrective practices
- Must be an effective communicator
- Must have a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to report to work on time
Machines/tools/Equipment:
- Must be able to operate typical office equipment, such as a computer, copier, printer, and calculator
- Must be able to operate safety equipment, monitoring devices, and camera
Working Conditions:
- Extensive travel by vehicle.
- Weekend, night, and out-of-town work may be required.
- Significant work at construction job sites and mining operations, during all stages, in all types of weather
- Must be able to perform activities requiring use of arms and legs, including climbing ladders/scaffolding, lifting & handling materials, walking & balancing, stooping.
- Must be able to speak & hear detailed information through oral communication.
- Must be able to see clearly

$64,000-$112,500

Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, overtime when applicable, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
