Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, Inc. (HACAP) is a diverse, community-focused nonprofit dedicated to empowering and improving the lives of families living with the everyday barriers of poverty.

 

POSITION GOAL

HACAP Food Reservoir provides food to families, children, and seniors who don't have enough to eat. We're looking for a Marketing Intern to join our dedicated team for the summer! The Marketing Intern will work with the Development Manager to plan and execute a summer hunger food and fund drive. Participate in the coordination of farmer’s market events and food rescue.

 

SCHEDULE AND WAGE

Flexible hours between 8-5 with weekend expectations.

$15.00 per hour

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Recruit and build relationships with business and community organizations to participate in a summer hunger food and fund drive.
  2. Track donations during summer hunger food and fund drive in June-August.
  3. Lead receiving of food donations from participating organizations.
  4. Plan celebration event at the conclusion of the food and fund drives to celebrate the participants
  5. Work with Development Manager to create marketing materials for summer hunger food drive.
  6. Lead volunteers in collecting donations through Home Run for Hunger at local farmer’s markets.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. High School Diploma
  2. Entering junior or senior year in secondary education where an internship is appropriate
  3. Experience in marketing and/or communications

 

SKILLS and ABILITIES

  1. Excellent communications, interpersonal and customer service skills; comfortable with public speaking.
  2. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  3. Self-starter, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word.
  5. Ability to attend work functions outside of normal work hours, on weekends and evenings, as needed.
  6. Must be able to clearly articulate our mission.
  7. Ability to relate effectively and professionally with other staff, volunteers, agency representatives and the public.


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
