General Summary Description

This client-facing role will work closely with the business development, preconstruction and operations functions of the business unit.  The ideal candidate is a great communicator and a performance driven individual with an entrepreneurial spirit. The cross-functioning role will be the primary point of contact with the client upon successful negotiation of contracts and serve as the project liaison during preconstruction, buy-out and during construction. 

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary point of contact between the client and Superior Bowen executive management during construction
  • Works closely with Project Superintendents to maximize project execution without sacrificing safety or quality
  • Communicates project budget, duration and client-oriented focal points
  • Leads project buy-out and value engineering in coordination with executive management
  • Works with estimating staff to set up project in accounting software
  • Arranges subcontract agreements and purchase orders with suppliers
  • Facilitates shop-drawing review and approval
  • Represents Superior Bowen at all Owner, Designer & Contractor (OAC) meetings
  • Works closely with design-partners to find betterments throughout project
  • Meets monthly with internal management to discuss project economics, job fade/gain and project month-end financials
  • Meets weekly with Superintendents and provides ‘look-ahead’ for internal and external audiences
  • Documents and communicates all schedule impacts, including scope, budget and design changes, and facilitates mitigation plans for these impacts
  • Regularly reviews costs relative to budget and highlights discrepancies to enable improved financial performance
  • Sets up and leads internal and external pre-construction meetings and conducts post-mortem analysis upon completion
  • Leads project close-out and punch-list process
  • Works closely with Accounting on month-end invoicing, receivables and payables
  • Participates with industry organizations on a local, regional and/or national level

Minimum Requirements, Abilities and Expectations

  • Bachelor’s Degree in construction management, engineering or related field and/or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of engineering, construction or heavy-civil background
  • Proficient in Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office Suite, and Accounting Software such as Vista by Viewpoint
  • Experience in Critical Path Management (CPM)
  • Estimating or field project management experience preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate strong work ethic with integrity and commitment to compliance
  • Commitment to the safety of employees, customers, vendors and the public
  • Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record
