General Purpose: Install machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints and other drawings in the industrial establishment.

 Work Schedule: Days and hours vary depending on the assigned project.

 Responsibilities & Duties

  • Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
  • Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Dismantle machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools
  • Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks
  • Assemble and install equipment such as shafting, conveyors and tram rails using hand and power tools
  • Construct foundations for machines using hand tools and building materials such as wood, cement and steel
  • Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rulers, micrometers and plumb bobs
  • Replace defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
  • Assemble machines using bolts, welds, rivets or other fastening devices using hand tools
  • Operate lathe to grind, file and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications
  • Repair and lubricate machines and equipment
  • Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved
  • Lay out mounting holes, using measuring instruments, and drill holes with power drill.
  • Attached pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings and gin pole booms using bolts and clamps
  • Attach load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes and chains, to crane hook
  • Set up, brace and rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches
  • Splice rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle
  • May direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment
  • Maintain a professional appearance
  • Other duties as assigned by Foreman or Superintendent

 Required Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.

 Required Experience

  • Minimum of 6 months experience, one year certificate from a technical school or an equivalent combination of education and experience

 Required Skills/Licenses/Certifications

  • Valid driver’s license to operate motor vehicles.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s, ability to perform these operations using unit weight measurements and volumes.
  • Ability to calculate rate, ratios and percentages
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
  • Workers should be able to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards
