Simon Group Holdings (SGH) is a private equity firm and family office that was established in 1985 with the founding of the Atlas Oil Company. The organization has diverse business interests, including energy solutions, logistics and transportation, technology incubation, fuel supply, real estate, aerospace and defense, oil field services, private equity and insurance solutions.

 SGH is looking for a Financial Analyst Intern for Summer 2023 to assist in investment performance analysis and the evaluation of new investment opportunities.

 This position is in-person in Birmingham, Michigan. Intern must be either an Undergraduate Junior or Senior or Recent Graduate in Finance, Accounting, or a related business discipline.

 Duties Include:

  • Gather and maintain company and performance data across multiple sources and databases
  • Monitor existing company investments through ongoing analysis, benchmark and peer analysis and performance reviews
  • Assist with the production of investment memorandum, PowerPoint presentations, data analysis and other internal presentations
  • Ongoing market and investment research
  • Assist in due diligence ranging from multi-family properties to single company investments

 Skills That You Have to Bring:

  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of accounting and financial statements
  • Ability to develop and articulate thorough analysis and defend your stance under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills

 Skills We’d Like You to Have (But Will Teach You)

  • Ability to create financial models from scratch
  • In-depth understanding of project & investment valuation techniques (residential & commercial real estate, discounted cash flow, leveraged buyout, comparable analysis)
  • Project management
  • Due diligence in new project or investment evaluation
  • Tracking & measuring project or investment performance

In addition to daily and weekly projects, a final project will be worked on throughout the duration of the internship, culminating in a presentation at its end. Scope of project to be determined.
