Responsibilities:
- Manages and directs the daily activities of the rig crew
- Operates the drilling unit in accordance with safe and acceptable practices
- Conducts meetings with rig crews to communicate daily objectives, special instructions, safety precautions and training activities as required
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with operator's representatives, subcontractors and other personnel on the rig
- Be knowledgeable of all safety policies and procedure that pertain to your area of responsibility
- Actively lead and participate in safety discussions, safety drills and inspections
- Report all incidents or injuries to crew members which occur, regardless of seriousness
- Inspect drilling unit and ensure compliance with all regulatory body requirements
- Maintain all paperwork in a neat, timely and orderly fashion
- Review all Operational/Maintenance bulletins, communicate pertinent points to crew members and implement all directives as required
- Conduct regular performance evaluations of personnel
- Directs workers to erect, dismantle, and move drilling rigs, and drilling crews in setting up and operating power units, draw works and other drilling equipment
- Plans delivery of drilling tools, fuel, water, and other supplies for use at drill site
- Orders type of drilling bits to be used, according to the type of strata encountered
- Directs workers in mixing drilling mud and circulating mud
Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in an oil/gas drilling experience
- 2+ years of experience working as a Driller in the well service industry
- Previous experience in a high paced safety sensitive work environment
- Working knowledge of oil/gas industry standards and practices is required

Physical Requirements:
- The individual must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, task specific safety glasses, life vest, respirators, task specific hearing protection, task specific safety shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location in which the work is being completed
- Ability to stand, stoop kneel, squat, climb, or sit for long periods of time
- Ability to sit up to and including 6 hours in a standard issue office chair
- Ability to withstand exposure to computer screens and cellular telephone screens
- Ability to walk, step, climb, or otherwise move from one location to another on the job site
- Ability to visually see equipment operations well (either naturally or with corrective lenses)
- Ability to execute repetitive movements of the feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and back in performance of work
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb. objects occasionally and to carry to up 50 lb. objects occasionally
- Ability to adapt to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure to sometimes adverse weather conditions
- Ability to remaining calm during emergency situations and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident
- Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments and holidays as required
Licenses or Certifications:
- Valid driver license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles required
- WV MHST Safety Sensitive Certification is preferred
- MSHA Part 48 Certification is preferred
- MSHA Part 77 Certification is preferred
- OHSA 10 Certification is preferred
- OSHA 30 Certification is preferred
- SafeLand Certification is preferred
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED, preferred
